Pressure sensor around FSR - Interlink 402 - Adafruit 166
Product information:
FSRs are sensors that allow you to detect physical pressure, pinch and weight. They are easy to use and inexpensive. This sensor is an Interlink model 402 FSR with a 1/2 diameter detection area.
FSRs are essentially a resistor that changes its resistance value (in ohms Ω) depending on how much pressure is applied. These sensors are fairly cheap and easy to use, but they are rarely accurate. They also vary from sensor to sensor, perhaps 10%. So if you are using FSRs, you should really only expect a range of response. While FSRs can detect weight, they are a poor choice for accurately detecting how many pounds are on it.
FSRs are made of plastic and the connector tab is crimped onto a delicate material. The best way to connect to these is to simply plug them into a breadboard or use a clamp-type connector such as alligator clips, a female header or a terminal block. It is possible to solder onto the tabs but you have to be very quick because if your iron is not good quality or you only drop for a few seconds you will melt the plastic and ruin the FSR! Do not attempt to solder directly onto your FSR unless you are absolutely certain you have the skills to do so.
