Make your projects green this summer with our specialized USB/Solar Lithium Ion Polymer Battery Charger! This charger has a very unique design, perfect for outdoor projects or DIY iPod chargers. We spent over a year testing and tinkering with this charger to create a plug and play solution for charging batteries with the sun and we are very pleased with what we have achieved.
Easy to use with a 6V solar panel. Connect the battery to the BATT port using a 2-pin JST cable and the solar panel to the DC jack using a 2.1mm terminal block adapter. Place the solar panel outside (and keep the battery out of the sun, it needs to stay cool!) to start charging. You can power another project like a Mintyboost at the same time by connecting to the LOAD output port
Our carefully designed charger is specifically designed for solar charging and will automatically get the most power out of the panel in all light conditions!
While it's not a 'true' MPPT (max power point tracker), it performs nearly identically without the added expense of a buck converter. Our detailed tutorial on using this charger includes a design document that explains how it all works.
For use with Adafruit Lipoly/LiIon batteries only! Other batteries may have a different voltage, chemistry, polarity or pinout.
Comes with an assembled charging board, a 2-pin JST cable that plugs into the BATT or LOAD ports, and a large stabilizing capacitor that should be installed in your finished project. Does not come with a LiPoly battery or solar panel, but we have tons of them available in the store that work pretty well. We've updated the design to be a bit more compact, have nicer mounting holes, and add a 2.1mm DC jack
