This photoelectric counter uses a slotted IR optocoupler to detect whether anything passes between the IR emitter and IR receiver. By counting these obstructions over a set time interval, the module can determine the rotation speed. When the optocoupler is not covered (no object in the slot), the D0 output is LOW, which indicates the LED is on. When the optocoupler is covered (an object blocks the IR light), D0 becomes HIGH and the LED turns off.
The potentiometer allows you to adjust the sensor sensitivity. Finally, we added a Crowtail (Crowduino-compatible) interface so it can be used with a Crowduino, making installation and operation easier and more convenient.
