It has been buzzing around the internet for a while, literally and figuratively. The ESP8266 wifi module makes it possible to provide even the smallest project with internet connectivity for a low price!

Order this module if you like experimenting, it is not really suitable for beginners. However, more and more examples of the use with e.g. an Arduino are coming online.

Because the ESP8266 is a SoC (system on a chip) it can even be fully equipped with custom software.

Note that the signal level is 3.3V!

The module is set to 9600 baud.
CH_PD must be connected to 3.3V and GPIO15 to GND.
The commands must be sent with CR LF
