Touch switch/sensor capacitive CAP1188 breakout I2C/SPI - Adafruit 1602
Product information:
Add a multitude of touch/touch sensors to your next microcontroller project with this easy to use 8 channel capacitive touch sensor breakout board featuring the CAP1188. This chip can handle 8 individual touch inputs and what's also cool is that it indicates touch using 8 LEDs on the board. Handy for debugging your sensor setup!
The CAP1188 supports both I2C and SPI, so it is easy to use with any microcontroller. When using I2C it is possible to choose from 5 addresses. So you can use 5 boards at the same time to get a total of 40 capacitive touch inputs on one I2C bus.
Using this chip makes capacitive inputs a lot easier than analog inputs: all the filtering is done for you and can be set to be more or less sensitive.
Comes with a complete board and loose header pins so you can mount them as you like, for example to pin the board to a breadboard.
For the contacts it is suggested to use copper foil. Solder on the foil a wire that is connected to the breakout.
