A stepper motor can be made to rotate very precisely and stop at a specific point. This allows you to automatically open the sun blinds at a certain position, for example.
The supplied driver board makes connecting to an Arduino, for example, simple (see the connection diagram under documentation).
By alternately turning the coils in the motor on and off, you can determine which way the motor goes. The faster you alternate, the faster the motor will turn. See the programming examples and the website link for more information.
The 28BYJ-48 rotates in 64 steps, which means it rotates 5.625 degrees per step.
